It started as a garden

We've been waiting for more than two months to have our backyard "fixed". There are ducks living there now, which tells you it's a swamp... or lake... or pond! One big mess! With a little setback last week, we now have a new contractor and a new plan. Now, being that it's too late to seed, we have to wait until October. Crazy, but that's how they do it here!

We decided with our yard being out of our control, we should do what is in our control. We planted our first garden!

Jim tilled it up with Pa's tiller, and we got to work. A row of beets for Grandma, carrots, zucchini, squash, watermelon, tomato and pepper plants, and lot and lots of green beans! I just imagined filling Granny's jars (I was lucky enough to have them passed down to me) with yummy green beans.

We knew it was our practice garden, but didn't expect it to be washed away within the first 48 hours! With five straight days of severe weather, our garden now looks like the rest of our yard... guess we'll be tilling again!

That's a nice size garden. Hope it grows well for you when it gets started again.

Sorry to hear about your poor garden. It looked like it was going to be a great one.
